January 19th – CTFs and Web Exploitation!

For today’s club meeting, Chief Technical Officer Guzman has started the club by introducing a new practice website called Owasp Juice Shop.

Owasp Juice Shop is a web application that purposely has web security issues and hacking challenges that range from different levels of difficulty. Users are able to choose different challenges and be able to learn about web application security while at the same time learning new things about JavaScript since the program is in fact written in that programming language.

However, it was recommended for members who have done Juice Shop or are familiar with web exploitation to attempt the intentionally vulnerable web application unless new members wanted to attempt it by working with others.

Not only that but members also had the choice of being able to return to PicoCTF by doing the practice gym or the ongoing Beginner’s Competiton or going back to the CTF that is running on Coach Smith’s server.
