CyberPatriot Round 1

On Sunday, October 16th, 3ncrypt3d Club began their first competition of the 2022-2023 school year, CyberPatriot. As teams arrived, they began extracting their images and got ready to compete.

Teams had taken notes in the previous meetings on the three different operating systems that they would be using; Linux Ubuntu, Windows Server, and Windows 10. They were also given access to Cisco Netacad modules, to help them better understand the operating systems they would be working with. These notes and modules exposed them to possible security issues in each image, which ultimately helped them gain points during the competition.

Teams were hard at work, and many were well into the 50’s by the time we had our short lunch break. Some teams had begun to hit a wall, but lunch (sponsored by many of our fellow competitors) was just what some teams needed to get back on track. The competition also happened to be right around Mr. Smith’s Birthday so we also sang him a quick Happy Birthday during the lunch break.

Around the 4-hour mark, 3ncrypt3d Club’s OHHSTech team had scored a 100 on their Windows Server image (Well done!). Final scores and placements for Round 1 are yet to be released, but it is safe to say that each team did a great job.
