January 30th – Project Showcase
To start off the 2023 year, Encrypted Club has decided to participate in the Project Showcase that is hosted by Oak Hills High School every year in order to show off the electives and core classes to incoming freshmen and their families so that they can have a better idea of what they want to participate in and how they want to organize their schedule.
The role that Encrypted Club had in the Showcase was to show off the two CTE pathways that involve IT. The club was able to accomplish this by demonstrating students that have developed their skills in IT Essentials building a computer which would later be given away to a lucky student or incoming freshman if they decide to participate in the Computer Giveaway Raffle. Not only that but Internet Engineering I and II were also able to show off by displaying the complex packet tracers that are used in class and the physical routers and switches that are used for practicums and hands-on labs. On the side, Internet Engineering II was also able to show off Red Hate Linux since it is also a course that they are taking in 2nd semester.
By the end of the night, the computer was successfully built and the Principal of Oak Hills High School, Mr. Capps had the honor of choosing David Juarez and his family as the Computer Giveaway winners. Overall, the night was a success since Encrypted Club was able to promote the IT program, and the club had the attention of many families as they passed by and were able to pass out most of the goodie bags that were filled with many things from the club’s sponsors.
Once again, congratulations to David Juarez, I hope you enjoy your new PC :).
