Mayor’s Cup Action!

The Inland Empire California Mayors Cyber Cup of 2025 has happened! It was a Saturday morning, Mr. Smith showed up earlier than people expected. Many got their computers and Laptops ready to compete. This year we had so much new people that we didn’t even have enough PCs for everyone! This is both a blessing and a curse- blessing because it is amazing having more and more people join this field, and getting more interested in cybersecurity! Mason Greene (DogBytes) offered to use his laptop during the competition, and that would not limit him one bit.
It was a sudden change of events however, everyone was notified a day or two before the competition letting everyone know that the competition was NOT going to be 6 hours- instead only half that time. 3 hours may sound like a lot, but in this kind of competition where every hour goes by in what it feels like minutes, 3 hours is barely adequate. With this newly acquired information, everyone during the competition hurried their abilities to break into things and grab flags. It shows the amazing capabilities that these students have, the ability to work well under intense amount of pressure, and low amount of time.
There was definitely some difficult problems, luckily many of our competitors were able to push through many of the difficulties.
By the end of the competition here are the OakHills’ teams:
Points | Accuracy | High School Placement (X out of 89th) | |
---|---|---|---|
1. DogBytes | 1370 | 42.86% | 4th |
2. OHHSTech | 1285 | 50.00% | 6th |
3. WatchDogs | 960 | 37.31% | 18th |
4. DigitalDogs | 920 | 20.32% | 20th |
5. CyberHounds | 690 | 30.05% | 30th |
Congrats to DogBytes for getting all the way up to 4th place! Truly amazing teamwork.
And Congrats to all the teams for all getting the top 33.7% of all of the high schools competing in the Inland empire!
