Our club met for the first time for the 26-27 school year on Thursday, August 20th. There were many returning faces within the club members however some new ones stood amongst them as well.
Our meeting began with a detailed introduction of the 3ncrypt3d Club given by Mr. Smith which involved the discussion of the many competitions we face such as Cyberpatriots, Mayor’s cup, and SoCal Cyber. Mr. Smith then covered the importance and impact behind the club as one of the most unique programs we offer in the state of California as a high school prompting him to introduce the necessity of electing new officers for the year!

After a unified electoral process the club officers of the year were set in stone! There were many great contestants for each role and each position was not handed over so easily but positions had to be filled and a club waiting to start so amazing job to anyone who ran for a role!

After the election we began with a brief explanation of the CIA Triad and a couple simple decryption exercises provided by Mr. Smith to help ease the beginners into the club. We focused on simple encryption methods such as Caesar’s cipher and base64 using Cyberchef while also diving into hashes shortly afterwards. Overall, our first club meeting was a success and there’s much more learning and growth to expect from all members so stay tuned!
